Last week I attended a screening of The Usual Suspects. Yes, the one that was made in 1995. Why? I wondered too. All I knew is that it was a “Magnum” screening.
Arrived to find balloons, Moet & Chandon champagne and a gold carpet. Got chatting to the girls promoting the event (as you do… if you’re me) and it turns out that Benicio Del Toro stars in the TV advert for the new Magnum Gold ice cream. An advert everyone but me appeared to have seen and a product I certainly hadn’t heard of.
Benicio Del Toro (for those that don’t know) is also in The Usual Suspects.
Finishing my second glass of bubbly we were seated and staff came round and gave us a magnum each. There was also a draw and someone won a holiday to Monte Carlo.
Anyways back to the ice cream. It’s been a while since i had a magnum. My pics don’t really do it justice. It was really nice! The Man said it wasn’t as good as a normal magnum but I was won over. It was GOLD, (this has been my selling point ever since – “it’s really gold!”) the vanilla ice cream is quite frankly making my mouth water right now as I recall it. Can’t complain.
Watching The Usual Suspects at the cinema was a good experience too. I was 15 when it first came out so didn’t get the cinematic experience first time around.
Also. What a stylish way to promote a new ice cream huh?
